Not a problem-I just need to specify MP3 as the target output format. The files that I've selected in Figure 19-75 are in various file formats, but my goal is to be able to play all of these on my iPod, which requires MP3 files. Next, specify your format conversion preferences. (You can also click Add Directory to select and add an entire directory of files.) The files that you selected display in the main Sound Converter dialog, as shown in Figure 19-75.
Once you've selected those files, click Open to add the selected files to the list of files that you want to convert and close the navigation dialog. To add the files that you want to convert, click Add File to display a dialog that enables you to navigate to and select the files which you want to convert to another format. Sound Converter's primary dialog displays, as shown in Figure 19-74. Once you've installed Sound Converter, you can execute it by selecting the Applications O Sound & Video O Sound Converter menu command. J -i Sound Converter uses the GStreamer framework discussed earlier in this chapter in the pi^^'^bJUSOTljSiaS section on "Installing the GStreamer Framework and Plug-Ins." You must follow the instructions in that section before trying to use sound converter-well, at least before trying to successfully use sound converter.
#Soundconverter ubuntu install
You must install Sound Converter yourself from the soundconverter package, using your favorite package management application as discussed in Chapter 23. Because not everyone will be using their Ubuntu system for serious audio work, Sound Converter isn't installed by default.
